BELIEFS ABOUT TEACHING AND LEARNING

Educators hold high expectations of learning for each child.
All students should acquire a core of basic and enabling skills.
Students should experience the pride of accomplishment that results from hard work and persistence.
Diversity in teaching, learning, and assessment styles contributes to the education of the whole child.
Positive self-image and self-esteem enhance teaching and learning.
Educators have a responsibility to keep abreast of current educational research, and to integrate new learnings into instruction.
Growth requires inquiry and reflection.
Connections between the classroom and life experiences result from interdisciplinary instruction.
The community will model and teach respect for the similarities and differences in all of us.
Collaboration among all learners results in greater productivity and broadens expertise.
Teaching requires the modeling of the attitudes and attributes of an educated person.
Education requires a safe and orderly environment.
Learning goals for students are meaningful and essential for success.
There is a common core of knowledge that all students must possess to succeed.
The community and the school together advocate a climate that promotes and sustains an enthusiasm for learning and academic achievement.
